In order to get inspired, I like to look at social media. When I saw Nichol Spohr’s film where she made cards using brushstroke stamps on YouTube, I knew that I wanted to make a card like that. Our former neighbours had their third wedding anniversary coming up, so I wanted to send them a card. The inspiration for the colours of the card, is taken directly from their wedding. His suit was bright blue and the Macedonian church where they were wed, also had a lot of blue in it. And so this is the card I made.
To start of with, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock by Stampin’ Up to the same size as the cardbase. Using my MISTI I repeatedly stamped a brushstroke from the My Favorite Things Abstract Art stamp set in the following blue inks by Stampin’ Up: Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Marina Mist and Soft Sky. Next I used one of the Stitched Scallop Edge Die-namics dies by My Favorite Things to shape the top and bottom of the panel. I cut a piece of Pacific Point cardstock by Stampin’ Up to the size of the cardbase and ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot in the Decorative Dots embossing folder by Stampin’ Up. I attachted the blue panel straight to the Made by ME cardbase and attachted the stamped panel on to of it. On a scrap piece of Pacific Point cardstock, I stamped the word ‘Geniet’ (Enjoy) from the Marianne Designs stamp set Joepie Geniet (Hooray Enjoy) with VersaMark ink. I sprinkled on some white super fine detail embossing powder by Ranger and heated it up with my heattool until the powder melted. next I cut out the word Geniet, leaving a small border around it. On a strip of Whisper White cardstock I stamped the rest of the sentiment in Pacific Point ink. I glued everything onto the background and stamped the word ‘Gefeliciteerd’ (congratulations) in Pacific Point on the inside.
The fun thing was, that I got to see the reaction to the card this time. As soon as they received the card, they sent me a cheerful selfie of themselves with the card. Hopefully we’ll meet up again soon.
